My name is Daniel Mantini. I had the privilege
to work with Rich between 1992 and
1997.
I first met Rich when I was the head of FX options trading at Paine Webber and
Rich worked for Zainet. Getting Zainet up and running at Paine Webber was a long
and difficult process due to the many modifications the various departments at
Paine Webber required. Rich impressed me tremendously during this period. He
worked tirelessly to develop creative solutions to the many problems, which
needed to be resolved. What impressed me most about Rich was his ability to
stay positive and maintain a good sense of humor during many rancorous
meetings.
Our paths crossed again at Smith Barney. I ran
the FX options trading desk and Rich was in charge of technology for my group.
Rich was the force that drove our new system installation to a successful
conclusion. I once took a trip with Rich to an energy derivatives conference in
Houston where we got a chance to spend time together and talk about things well
beyond work. Rich had his head on straight. He was a tireless worker,
technically brilliant, but a down to earth guy that was fun to be around. He will be missed by all who knew him.
